First Scrapbook: For my Godchildren

It’s Crafty Wednesday!

I love kids and special occasions, so I decided to make one scrapbook for my GODCHILDREN. They are growing in numbers and I don’t want to miss details like their birthday, or even their full name. I am grateful and honored that their parents, my friends, entrusted me with their precious child. My Lola (grandmother) used to tell me that being a godmother has responsibilities too, like being a mentor to them their whole life. I don’t want my name plainly written on their baptismal certificate, I want to become a part of their journey.

In the Philippines, you can call the mother of your godchild as kumare or mare.Β You can ask my kumares, and you will learn that I seldom give money as gifts. I always took time to ask or see what they need – since they are newborn, it is practical to give diapers, baby stuffs that they will need in the next months. I have two godchildren when I was in college, nursing course was no joke at all, all I can do that time was to hand money and it didn’t feel great. My bad kiddos.

I know what you’re thinking, that scrap-booking is old school and time consuming. We all know that technology can save me from this, we can simply save pictures in a USB flash drive or save it in a CD and label it. But I want to have it on my own, with my personal touch. I like to preserve a memory on my own terms, on my own design.

I finally decided to release the creativity in me, I made one scrapbook that contains photos of my godchildren! So here goes the first book I decided to make…

Here are my tools in making a simple scrapbook:

5
Basically, you will need tape, glue and scissors.
4
I got letter stamps and stamp pad from DAISO.
3
Honestly, I hoard WASHI TAPES!!!
1
My Instax printer was a gift from my aunt last September and I also got that mini scrapbook from DAISO.
2
It took me 9 minutes to print these 9 photos via Instax Printer. πŸ‘Œ

Finding photos of my godchildren wasn’t so hard at all because I’m very sentimental, I kept those in one folder. πŸ˜‚ Creating scrapbooks differ from one person to another, some like it simple, some want it colorful. If only I have magazines, I will cut out photos and letters from it. Let me show you you my godchildren…Β

I simply put some washi tapes on the sides, sort of a playful design.

Meet my 9 godchildren.

They are supposed to be 10, but the eldest godchild of mine were baptized during my high school years. I was too young then and I don’t have a smartphone back in 2000. One day, I’ll see you again Andrea.

Khiel is the little boy on my right. He's my uncle's first son. He's already in 5th grade and really good at Math. He's living with my grandfather too.

Meet Princess Nicolette, she is the daughter of my Science high school teacher. When I was in college, they used to surprise me every Christmas and all I can do was give her money and it didn’t felt great. So last year on her 7th birthday, Ninang gave her a school bag. While on the other side, you can see Breana Amerie, born and raised in the USA. Hopefully, we’ll celebrate Christmas 2016 together with her mom (my cousin).

That lady wearing red is my high school classmate, she’s the mother of Kylie Denisse, our little star scout! It was already an agreement among us, P4 ‘Psalmiors‘ (my high school friends, almost brothers & sisters), that if we will have a child, we are ‘automatic’ godmothers and godfathers. They live in Ilo-Ilo, I haven’t met this cutie, I’ll see you soon darling! They look like sisters, right? πŸ˜‚

That's Baby Leiyam, son of my college friend who turned out to be one of the truest friend I love. I just watched their video the other day and he can already identify different colors! Before I left the Philippines, this little man played with me and took a lot of selfies! β™₯

Meet Scarlette! Daughter of my college group mate wearing her Darna costume during her first birthday! She's a little bit shy but definitely charming! Look at her mom? Did she really gave birth? Lol. πŸ˜‚ Btw, her parents are getting married on her 2nd birthday this December.

Meet the third little boy, Leopoldo IV, son of my college groupmate as well (from 46-ers too). When I see kids, you’ll see how innocent their face is. Such a blessing to see a gift from Him.

As you can see here, I printed it straight from my Facebook post. One of the good things about Instax Printer, the application required comes with different designs already. You can also type few words on it. (App is available on iTunes and it is free.)

Back in 2013, I worked in a BPO company and met few good friends. Two of them fell in love and were blessed to have Samantha Ysabelle. She was born last year October 10, 2015 and I am able to see her as early as 5 days old! I always watched her videos, her mother sent me. She laughed and smile too much whenever she sees herself on the screen. πŸ˜‚

The youngest of them all. As I mentioned above, I have few good friends when I worked in a BPO company, her mother is one of those. Meet Anastacia born last November 10, 2016.

These two ladies kept teasing me to be the next mom in September 10, 2017. (They knew I want my baby to be born on my birth month.) But I can’t it’s not in my plan. Lol. πŸ˜‚ #PlannerPerson

That’s all for my first scrapbook, as you can see there’s still available spaces, I can add new 2×2 photos or add descriptions of them. Took me two and a half hours to finish it, I got limited designs to choose from. When making books like these, you’re the boss, it’s always your choice, your design. So release the creativity inside you and make one. 🎊🎁

I am already starting my second one which contains all mountains I’ve been to! πŸŒ„

See you tomorrow for Thoughtful Thursday!
