It’s Crafty Wednesday!
I love kids and special occasions, so I decided to make one scrapbook for my GODCHILDREN. They are growing in numbers and I don’t want to miss details like their birthday, or even their full name. I am grateful and honored that their parents, my friends, entrusted me with their precious child. My Lola (grandmother) used to tell me that being a godmother has responsibilities too, like being a mentor to them their whole life. I don’t want my name plainly written on their baptismal certificate, I want to become a part of their journey.
In the Philippines, you can call the mother of your godchild as kumare or mare. You can ask my kumares, and you will learn that I seldom give money as gifts. I always took time to ask or see what they need – since they are newborn, it is practical to give diapers, baby stuffs that they will need in the next months. I have two godchildren when I was in college, nursing course was no joke at all, all I can do that time was to hand money and it didn’t feel great. My bad kiddos.
I know what you’re thinking, that scrap-booking is old school and time consuming. We all know that technology can save me from this, we can simply save pictures in a USB flash drive or save it in a CD and label it. But I want to have it on my own, with my personal touch. I like to preserve a memory on my own terms, on my own design.
I finally decided to release the creativity in me, I made one scrapbook that contains photos of my godchildren! So here goes the first book I decided to make…
Here are my tools in making a simple scrapbook:
Finding photos of my godchildren wasn’t so hard at all because I’m very sentimental, I kept those in one folder. 😂 Creating scrapbooks differ from one person to another, some like it simple, some want it colorful. If only I have magazines, I will cut out photos and letters from it. Let me show you you my godchildren…
They are supposed to be 10, but the eldest godchild of mine were baptized during my high school years. I was too young then and I don’t have a smartphone back in 2000. One day, I’ll see you again Andrea.
As you can see here, I printed it straight from my Facebook post. One of the good things about Instax Printer, the application required comes with different designs already. You can also type few words on it. (App is available on iTunes and it is free.)
These two ladies kept teasing me to be the next mom in September 10, 2017. (They knew I want my baby to be born on my birth month.) But I can’t it’s not in my plan. Lol. 😂 #PlannerPerson
That’s all for my first scrapbook, as you can see there’s still available spaces, I can add new 2×2 photos or add descriptions of them. Took me two and a half hours to finish it, I got limited designs to choose from. When making books like these, you’re the boss, it’s always your choice, your design. So release the creativity inside you and make one. 🎊🎁
I am already starting my second one which contains all mountains I’ve been to! 🌄
See you tomorrow for Thoughtful Thursday!
