As I study Nihongo language, I also spend my time doing some art journaling and calligraphy. Currently, I am participating in Get Filed’s Wonder A Day Challenge in Instagram, wherein we interpret daily prompts for the whole month of October and post it on our own account. I’m really not good on this one, but I really wanted to and no one can stop me from trying.
Before I begin the 31 days challenge, I went to Tokyu Hands in Omiya, to look for some art materials. The exact location is in DOM Building, occupying 4th and 5th floor. They sell wide array of products from kitchen utensils, beauty products, school and art supplies, travel essentials and gadget accessories.
May first and only destination was the art and school supplies, one of my obsessions.
1. Tons of Washi Tapes
These masking tapes in different colors, designs, countries and even Japan’s different cities are specially made for decorative purposes. Price ranging from ¥120-800. You can use it for index, wrapping calendar, wrapping, room deco, customizing, party and kitchen.

2. 2016 Planners
These planners are very cute and vary in designs. No need to wait for January to buy and use planner because they sell planners year-round. I am itching to buy these planners because you can use them immediately until December of 2016. Yay!
Adventure or Paris Planner?
3. Art Brush
Pentel vs Kuretake. These brushes are made with super-fine nylon bristles for smooth, controlled strokes, for only cost ¥500 each.
4. Kuretake Watercolor Brushes
A water brush is a reservoir of water attached to a brush. Water flow is controlled by a small plastic feed and can be increased by squeezing the barrel. You will love its portability; remove the need for open water containers and clean themselves through use. Brush may varies from size, length and water filling mechanism. No more messy desk! Price ranges from ¥250-600.
5. ZIG Pen and Markers
These convenient and portable synthetic hair brush pens live up to their “Clean Color” name! You can easily blend the colors like watercolors when you use a water brush since they are water-based. Their ink flow is smooth and consistent, and colors are vibrant and don’t get muddy when blended.
6. Colored Pencils
You can buy set of colored pencils or simply choose the colors you want. I was totally shocked with the prices, cheapest set I found was ¥1000 and I even found an out of stock Japanese brand that costs ¥40,000. For real.
7. It’s raining watercolors and paint brushes.
Just like colored pencils, you can buy your watercolor tubes separately. If some people can go shopping for hours trying clothes and shoes, well I can definitely stay here and choose my materials. I wish it’s also raining money, lol.
If you are obsessed with these craft items, don’t forget to visit Tokyu Hands when you visit Japan. I am overwhelmed with what to buy, I just can’t get enough of these art gems. I am not professionally inclined with art, but I am more than willing to learn and try.
Probably next Crafty Wednesday, I will share my entries in Get Filed’s 31 days challenge so you can see how my works look like. Kid’s artwork, maybe.
Again, Thank you for reading! ♥
